Plato states that education include physical exercise for the development of the body and music for the soul. Since ancient times it is clear how music is a necessary nourishment but also a balm - medicine for the soul. What is evident now, as it was back then, is that if body and soul are inseparable entities for man, then what benefits the one must benefit the other in the same way. Curiously, this also happens in reverse. In a perfect osmosis, that which waters and feeds the soul has a positive effect on the brain and body. The language of music, that goes straight to the heart without the need for filters, not only moves us, excites us, consoles us, makes us smile, makes us dream but also instils in us an energy, a real vital sap, a real state of physical wellbeing. When we listen to music, but more so for those of us lucky enough to be actively involved, playing an instrument for example; but even in the most simple forms, for example, whistling, singing, moving to a dance rhythm, it is then that we can feel in complete harmony with our body and ourselves. In effect, and this is perhaps the true, immense power of music, its fertile and positive thought is transmitted to the others, both near and far, as from an enormous sounding board, becoming a universal message.
